 A One mile route through Ripon's historic streets with the opportunity to visit three social history museums.

1. Start in the market square by the obelisk, facing the Town Hall. Turn left and follow the road down Market Place South.

2. Cross the road outside Manchega and continue along Kirkgate.

3. At the end of the road, cross Minster Road to reach the West front of Ripon Cathedral.

OPTIONAL DETOUR - Courthouse Museum

1. Instead of crossing the road, turn right and continue along the pavement until you reach a small wooded park.

2. Turn left and continue straight ahead to visit the Courthouse Museum.

4. Facing the entrance to the Cathedral, turn right and go through the gap in the low wall to join the path through the churchyard.

5. Follow the path through the churchyard and upon reaching the iron gates at the bottom of the hill, go through the gates and turn left to enter High St Agnesgate.

6. Continue along the road and turn left at the junction onto Low St Agnesgate.

7. At the end of the road, carefully cross the road and turn right onto St Mary Gate, passing Abbot Huby's wall on your left hand side.

8. Towards the end of the road, you will pass the Prison and Police Museum on your right hand side. At this point, you can explore the museum or continue the route.

9. Upon reaching a cross roads, turn left onto Allhallowgate and immediately cross the road continuing up the hill. 

10. Towards the top of the hill, you will encounter the Workhouse Museum on your right. Feel free to explore this museum or alternatively, continue the route.

11. Continue up the hill until you encounter Drakes fish and chips shop at the top. At this point, cross the road and follow the pavement along Finkle Street, passing the Black Bull public house on your right until you re enter the Market Square.

12. Follow the pavement along Queen Street & Market Place east to return to the Town Hall and end this route.
