 1. Starting at the Obelisk in the Market Square, face the Town Hall and turn right onto Westgate.

2. Continue along Westgate and turn right at the end of the road onto Blossomgate.

3. Upon reaching Holy Trinity Ripon, cross the road and keeping the church on your left, continue straight ahead on Kirkby Road.

4. Cross the road just before encountering the raised walkway and follow the walkway until you reach a junction.

5. At the junction, cross the road and continue straight ahead, passing Ripon Cemetery on your right.

6. Just after the cemetery, you will encounter an open section of land with a kissing gate and footpath on your right.

7. Turn right and follow the footpath through the fields until you reach Palace Road.

8. Turn left and continue straight ahead until you reach Ripon Golf Club. 

9. Cross the road opposite to the entrance of Ripon Golf club and follow the paved road past the golf club car park, RIpon Tennis Centre and Ripon Golfing Range.

10. At the end of the lane, turn right and follow the track until you reach South Parks Farm.

11. Continue through the farm yard and rejoin the main footpath as it decends the hillside down towards the River Ure.

This stage of the route is very uneven and floods quickly following heavy rain.

12. Follow the path down through the field, turn right at the hedge row and go through the gate in the woodland on the edge of the field.

The banking here is very unstable so caution is advised!

13. Follow the path along the riverside until you reach a gated fence.

14. Go through one of the gates and follwo the paved road until you reach North Bridge.

15. Cross the main road and continue along Magdalen's Road.

16. As the road bends to the right, turn left and go through the kissing gate following the riverside path under the bypass bridge and alongside the River Ure.

17. Continue to follow the path until you reach a wide open field and a row of terraced houses.

18. Keeping the houses on your right, continue to follow the path straight ahead and continue in a straight line, passing under the former railway bridge.

19. Follow the paved road (Low Mill) and at the end of the road, turn left.

20. Walk straight ahead, following the road and once you encounter a ford and wooden bridge, bear right and follow the riverside path upstream.

21. Upon reaching the concrete bridge, turn right and continue straight ahead onto Low St Agnesgate.

22. Upon encountering the Cathedral church yard, turn left onto High St Agnesgate.

23. Walk along the road until you reach the entrance to the churchyard and bear right to follow the path past the Cathedral.

24. Upon reaching the West Front of Ripon Cathedral, cross the road and walk along Kirkgate and up the hill to return to the Market Square.
