St Michael & All Angels Littlethorpe

St Michael & All Angels Littlethorpe

The church in Littlethorpe, St Michael & all Angels was designed by  the architect Robert Hargreave Brodrick and was built in 1878 following the gift of the land by Mr. Denison of Scarborough and the raising of the £800 12d 4s required to build the church by local villagers.

St Michael and All Angels is a relatively small church and is comprised of a nave, chancel, apsidal vestry, organ chamber, bell cote and a porch on the south side. Constructed with a combination of moulded red and blue Staffordshire bricks combined with Staffordshire flat tiles on the roof, the church stands proudly on  crossroads in the centre of the village.  The church was consecrated on 23 April 1878 by the Bishop of Ripon  with a Garden of Remembrance being added and consecrated in October 2008.
